Sea of Sun is one of the three Sea Sisters. Each figure engages with the seashore through a unique point of view. The seashore’s trinity of elements – waves, wind, and sun manifest as stamina, muse, and brilliance in this series.
The figure in Sea of Sun inhales the heat and brilliance of the sun. Though her face and much of her figure is veiled, her intentions are clear as she seeks the horizon.
I created a very orange layered patina for the Sea Sisters. The orange patina serves to raise the intensity and heat of the sculpture.
The Sun and She

Stretch your quiet step and chance to run,
Lead the way,
You breathe deeply taking in the brilliance of the sun.

Clear the way,
You breathe deeply calming the wild things of your mind.
Woman seeking in the heat of day,
Stretch your careful words and chance a song,
All the way,
You breathe deeply having held it for far too long.
